Covid-19 took another bite out of city coffers last month, as declining real estate sales translated into a $101 million drop in transaction tax revenue in May, compared with the same month last year, according to a report from the Real Estate Board of New York.
The figures don’t include the mortgage recording tax, which the city’s Independent Budget Office projects will reach $1 billion this year, down 10% from last year.
