When Gov. Andrew Cuomo decided to end indoor dining this month, restaurant owners said that it signaled a death knell for their industry.
“We’re teetering on folding for the winter in the next couple of weeks if there isn’t some sort of financial help from the government,” said Nick DiFrisco, owner of the Tambour bistro in Brooklyn. “I’m building outdoor seating, but at this point, what for?”
DiFrisco estimated that no more than 10% of the city’s restaurants will survive the lack of indoor dining this winter.
